Jasco Keeps Philips License Post-Gibson Bankruptcy

The vendor retains brand access for power and accessories products.

Jasco, which had licensed the Philips brand from the now defunct Gibson Innovations, will retain access to the badge under a new licensing agreement with Royal Philips.

The pact provides Jasco with exclusive use of the brand for the sales, marketing and distribution of Philips-branded CE accessories, mobile charging products and home power devices throughout North America.

Products covered under the agreement include antennas, remotes, cables, surge protectors, battery packs, and USB-C and Qi wireless chargers.

“Entering into this direct license agreement with Philips, an innovative and renowned brand, further strengthens our core offerings to our customers,” said Jasco CEO Cameron Trice. “Jasco has played a leadership role in the consumer electronics industry for over 45 years as a trusted global brand partner and our product development expertise has enabled us to develop an exclusive line of innovative, design-forward products continuing our relationship with the Philips brand.”

Oklahoma City-based Jasco designs, develops and markets a wide array of licensed and Jasco-branded tech products worldwide, encompassing the home automation, LED lighting, power, mobility and home entertainment categories. Besides Philips, its portfolio of licensed brands include GE, Nickelodeon, Über, Marvel, Disney and DC Comics.

Guitar manufacturer Gibson Brands acquired its Gibson Innovations CE business from Philips in 2014, but jettisoned the money-losing unit as part of a Chapter 11 reorganization announced last month.
