Birdfy has launched its companion app on Roku OS-powered TVs, bringing its smart birdwatching platform to larger screens.
The company said it is the first smart birding brand to launch a companion app on Roku, which it describes as the No. 1 TV streaming platform in North America. The Birdfy app is available on Roku OS-powered TVs and other compatible streaming devices, including Roku TVs.
The app supports devices running Roku OS 15.1 or later, allowing users to livestream backyard bird activity and watch nature videos captured by Birdfy products.
Birdfy said the Roku launch also gives users a way to share birdwatching experiences with family and friends. Videos shared through the Birdfy app can be streamed to Roku devices using a cast code generated by the app.
“Launching the Birdfy App on Roku expands our brand’s smart birdwatching ecosystem and delivers immersive viewing experiences for backyard birders,” Birdfy CEO Allen Chen said.
Birdfy devices feature motion-triggered cameras and Birdfy AI, which the company says can identify 99% of backyard bird species. Users can search saved videos and photos for specific species and view the footage on larger screens.
The Birdfy app has more than 2.4 million active users, according to the company, contributing bird videos from around the world.
