Signify is expanding its Philips Smart Lighting lineup with two products designed to synchronize lighting effects with television and entertainment content.
The Philips Smart Lighting Screen Sync with Strip Light uses a camera-based system to capture the colors displayed on a television and reproduce them through an RGBIC lightstrip mounted behind the screen. The HDMI 2.1 Sync Box with Strip Light instead connects to HDMI devices and synchronizes lighting with their content.
Screen Sync Works With Any TV Content
The Screen Sync uses a fisheye lens to capture the television display from edge to edge and analyze colors in real time. The included four-sided lightstrip then mirrors those colors behind the television.
Because the system reads the screen directly, it can work with native smart TV apps, broadcast television and HDMI-connected sources without requiring users to route content through a separate HDMI box.
Setup starts with positioning the Screen Sync device on top of the television and calibrating it through the Philips Smart Lighting app. The device automatically aligns its anchor points with the screen, with manual adjustments available if needed.
Users can select preset sync modes for different viewing experiences. A built-in microphone can also synchronize the lights with music, while compatible Philips Smart Lighting bulbs, lightstrips and lamps can be added to extend the lighting effects throughout a room.
Screen Sync with Strip Light is available in kits for 55- to 65-inch and 75- to 85-inch televisions. Each kit includes the Screen Sync device and corresponding four-sided Strip Light.
HDMI 2.1 Sync Box Adds Support for 8K
The Philips Smart Lighting HDMI 2.1 Sync Box with Strip Light provides another option for synchronizing lighting with entertainment devices connected through HDMI.
The system supports video content up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz. Its included lightstrip uses 60 LEDs per meter and provides lighting around all four sides of the television.
“Consumers want richer experiences at home, and they expect technology to be simple, flexible and accessible. Screen Sync brings movies, gaming and sports beyond the television using the content people already watch, without a complicated setup. The HDMI 2.1 Sync Box with Strip Light offers another way to create an immersive entertainment experience, supporting high-quality video content up to 8K at 60Hz. Together, these products show how Philips Smart Lighting makes expressive connected lighting easy to start, personalize and enjoy,” said Mafalda Monteiro, Business Leader, Philips Smart Lighting.
