LG promoted OLED display technology in its first-ever Super Bowl commercial and is following up with the launch of retail preview events for one of the two OLED 4K Ultra HD TVs in its flagship Signature series.
The company also revealed the pricing of the Signature model, which is the 65-inch OLED65G6P 65-inch OLED TV at a suggested $7,999. It is available for preorder from LG and participating retailers, with initial shipments planned for late March.
LG did not release the price or ship date of its 77-inch Signature OLED TV, the OLED77G6P, which it said would be “coming soon.”
Retail partner Video & Audio Center held a preview event/Super Bowl viewing party on Sunday evening and sold 14 of the 65-inch models.
Other retail partners for the retail preview and pre-sale include selected locations of Abt, Best Buy (Magnolia), Bjorns, Brandsmart, Fry’s, Nebraska Furniture Mart, P.C. Richard & Son and Value Electronics.
At CES, LG unveiled the Signature OLED TVs as part of a Signature line of ultra-premium home entertainment and appliance products. Both TVs feature a translucent glass back, chassis that is mostly 2.57mm deep, and integrated stand incorporating all electronics and an 80-watt soundbar speaker system.
Like all of the company’s 4K OLED TVs, the Signature models are certified as Ultra HD Premium by the UHD Alliance.
Like all of its 2016 OLED TVs and its Super UHD TVs, the Signature TVs are also promoted as the first TVs to offer both the HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) technologies.
LG’s full 1016 OLED line consists of four series with eight total models, including the Signature series. LG will announce the pricing and ship dates of the following OLED TV series in the spring: LG OLEDE6P, LG OLEDB6P and LG OLEDC6P, all in 55- and 65-inch versions.
2015 promo prices:
Separately, the company revealed promotional prices on 2015 OLED and 4K LCD TVs. The prices go into effect next week, with savings up to $2,000. The price moves include:
—The 65-inch flat OLED 4K smart TV (65EF9500) and 65-inch curved OLED 4K smart TV (65EG9600), normally $5,999, now at $4,999. Beginning Feb. 7, the deal also includes the choice of the 43UF6400 TV, LAS855M curved sound bar, LAS851M sound bar, or $300 gift card.
—55-inch flat OLED 4K smart TV (55EF9500) and LG 55-inch curved OLED 4K smart TV (55EG9600), normally $3,999, now $2,999. Beginning Feb. 7, the deal also includes the choice of the 42LF5600 TV, 43LF5400 TV with LAS551H sound bar, LAS454B sound bar, or a $200 gift card.
