Mike Fleming, LG Sales Exec, Dies At 65

Pompton Plains, N.J. — LG Electronics sales executive John Michael (Mike) Fleming died Saturday, June 7, at Chilton Memorial Hospital here. He was 65.

Fleming was responsible for LG’s dealings with buying groups and military exchanges. He had been with LG for about a year. Previously, he was with Sharp for more than 20 years and had also held positions with JVC and Sony.

Fleming was born in Montgomery, Ala., the son of the late Robert W. Fleming and Louise (nee Dunlop) Fleming. He was a graduate of Florida State University and served with the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.

He was a long-time member of the Sports Car Club of America, an organization for auto racing and rally buffs.

He is survived by his fiancé Debra Steele; his mother, Louise Fleming; a son, Thomas Fleming; his daughters, Christine Cheripka and Elizabeth Fleming Meeks; a sister Margaret Raborn; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service was held yesterday.

Steve McNally, LG marketing and sales VP, had this to say: “Mike had always endeared himself to anyone he met and he celebrated life with more passion than most people would dare dream of. Mike was an expert at being a good friend — he was great at nurturing the relationships that he built over his many years and with the same conviction he would mentor new friendships at every opportunity. Michael Fleming will be remembered fondly as one of the good guys in our business, as a great person and as a friend to everyone.”

Memorial donations to the Arthritis Foundation in Fleming’s name can be made here.
