Toshiba CE Biz Posts Double-Digit Sales, Income Gains
Tokyo — Toshiba’s digital products business sales increased 14 percent to $21.7 billion during fiscal year 2005, while profits increased at just about the same rate.

Mitsubishi’s CE Sales Grow 3%

Tokyo – Mitsubishi Electric’s home appliance business, which includes consumer electronics, reported fiscal year 2006 sales of $7.82 billion, a 3 percent increase versus the previous year.

Cobra Q1 Sales Soar 31.2%

Chicago — Improved sales of navigation products helped Cobra Electronics enjoy a 31.2 percent increase in sales during the first quarter, rising to $25.3 million, from $19.3 million.

Gateway Retail Sales Soar 61%

Irvine, Calif. — The Gateway retail segment, which include the company’s international sales, posted revenue of $767 million in the first quarter, up 61 percent year-on-year, but down 3 percent in sequential quarters.

Matsushita CE Sales Increase 6%

Osaka, Japan — Lifted by a 6 percent increase in fiscal-year sales of video and audio equipment, due mainly to strong movement of digital A/V products such as plasma TVs and digital cameras, overall sales in the AVC Networks segment at Matsushita Electric Industrial rose 4 percent, to $31.5 billion in the 12 months, up from a year-ago $31.1 billion.

JVC CE Sales Off 4%

Yokohama, Japan — Although the camcorder and car electronics business continued to be stable at Victor Company of Japan (JVC) in the past 12 months, the company reported a “tough struggle” for its consumer electronics segment.

XM Doubles Q1 Revenue

Washington — XM Satellite Radio more than doubled its total revenue in the first quarter, notching $208 million for the three months, compared with a year-ago $102.6 million.

TDK 2006 Media Sales Fall 4.6%

Tokyo — Recording media sales at TDK declined 4.6 percent to $918. 2 million during the fiscal year, ended March 31, while the segment recorded a loss of $118.0 million, 79.6 percent higher than the previous fiscal year.

Sony CE Biz Edges Upward 1.7%

Tokyo — Sony boosted overall all fiscal year-end sales in its consumer electronics business by 1.7 percent, climbing to $44.8 billion, compared with $44.1 billion the prior 12 months, by increasing sales of LCD televisions in all its geographic sales area as well as boosting sales of LCD rear-projection TVs in the United States.

Pioneer’s CE Sales Climb 9.9%

Tokyo — With plasma display sales increasing 30 percent, driven by an expanding market for high resolution models in North America, home electronics segment sales at Pioneer increased 9.9 percent in the company’s fiscal 12 months, hitting $3 billion, up from $2.8 billion in the same period a year ago.

Sharp CE Sales Jump 12.2%

Osaka, Japan — Sales of audio/visual and communication equipment at Sharp for the fiscal year, ended March 31, jumped 12.2 percent, hitting $9.5 billion, up from $8.5 billion in the previous 12 months. The company’s A/V segment is composed primarily of consumer electronics.

Energizer N.A. Battery Sales Edge Up 3%

St. Louis — Higher volume and pricing, partially offset by an unfavorable product mix, evolved into a 3 percent increase in fiscal second-quarter sales for the North American battery business at Energizer.

Whirlpool N.A. Sales Increase 12%

Benton Harbor, Mich. — Strong consumer demand for branded product innovation at Whirlpool helped increase North American first-quarter sales 12 percent, rising to $2.2 billion.

Electrolux N.A. Majap Sales Rise 16%

Stockholm, Sweden — Strong sales growth of major appliances helped Electrolux post $1.2 billion in consumer durables revenue in North America during the first quarter, up 16 percent from the $950.1 million recorded in the year-ago three months. Consumer durables consist mainly of majaps.
