Epson Launches New All-In-One

Long Beach, Calif. — Epson announced its first photo all-in-one to incorporate direct CD/DVD printing and its Photo Fine LCD technology.

The RX700, which ships this month for a suggested $399, features a 2.5-inch LCD screen using the same display technology found it its P-2000 photo viewer. Via a front-loading CD tray, the unit can also print directly to the surface of inkjet-printable CD and DVD media.

The RX700 is capable of making copies, reprints and enlargements from slides, negatives and photos without a PC. It can connect to a PC via USB 2.0 high speed and features slots for memory cards and a USB slot for printing from PictBridge-enabled digital cameras.

The all-in-one can also accept images from Bluetooth-enabled devices with an optional adapter that retails for $69.

The RX700 features Epson’s built-in scanner color restoration technology, called Easy Photo Fix, and offers 48-bit, 3,200 by 6,400 dpi resolution scanning.

The printer features dual paper trays and six-color dye-based inks, and it prints with variable-sized ink droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters for prints up to 5,760 by 1,440 optimized dpi. It can print borderless photos in 4-inch by 6-inch, 5 by 7-inch, 8 by 10-inch and letter-size formats.

The unit can also create greeting cards without a PC by scanning in custom artwork, text and a photo.

The printer can print a borderless 8 by 10-inch photo in 78 seconds and 20 pages per minute in black text.
