With sleek black finishes being the trend in new high-end flat-panel TVs, furniture companies are keeping up.

Sanus Systems has extended its Platinum line of flat-panel TV stands to include black finishes on four models.

The new models in the mid-priced line are designed for thinner, heavy flat-panel sets. They feature extra-thick black tempered glass that complements the cosmetics of new TV models while being durable enough to support heavy A/V components, according to the company.

As in the rest of the Platinum line, the new black models offer a large wire management channel.

The four new models in black finish — all currently shipping — are: model PFV36b, a 36-inch wide four-shelf unit that supports up to 100 lbs. and retails for $299; model PFV47b, a 47-inch wide four-shelf stand that holds a TV up to 150 lbs. and retails for $329; model PFV59b, a 59-inch three-shelf stand that supports up to 150 lbs. and retails for $429; and the 47-inch wide model PFPLb, a four-shelf unit featuring adjustable shelves and a sturdy MDF top that's curved to match the latest TV bases. It supports up to 150 lbs. and retails for $329.

“Our Platinum line in black blends a distinctive modern style with top line beauty and strength at a mid level A/V furniture price; it's quite a value,” said Keith Pribyl, retail sales VP. “This entire line complements the sleek styling of today's digital TVs, whether silver or black.”
