NEW YORK – This month’s CEDIA Expo saw a number of vendors expand their ready-to-assemble (RTA) A/V furniture lines.
Adrian Lifestyles Furnishings featured RTA home theater cabinets and credenzas built in the United States from hand-selected veneers and hardwoods machined on computerized CNC routers. The company applies real wood veneers onto furniture grade medium-density fiberboard, uses European-style hidden fasteners, and avoids metal tubes or plastic, which can create unwanted sound resonance and rattles.
New to the line and featured at CEDIA was the Black Pearl credenza, a high-gloss black model available in four iterations: a 79-inch-wide model with three doors with two media drawers; 67 inches with three doors and no drawers; 58 inches with two doors and two drawers; and 46 inches with two doors and no drawers. All have EZ Back panels for cables and connectors, transparent acoustical fabric on the doors, vented shelves and adjustable aluminum legs.
Sanus was at CEDIA to highlight its high-end preassembled A/V furniture. New from the company is the Alabaster Collection, featuring two media consoles, one 53 inches wide ($900 suggested retail) and one 73 inches wide ($1,300), as well as a 42-inch-wide A/V cabinet ($800). Each piece is handcrafted of high-quality hardwood, available in Caramel or Charcoal finish.
Also new from Sanus is the BFV53 Foundation A/V stand for TVs up to 56 inches. Its open design maximizes airflow to equipment and provides easy rear access to all components. It features thick tempered glass and heavygauge steel construction, large cable-management holes and adjustable feet for leveling.
In addition the company showed its stackable skeleton racks which feature a self-aligning structure requiring only four bolts for assembly. They come in five possible height combinations from 15U to 40U.
Just before CEDIA Bell’O added to it Curved Wood Collection of home-theater furniture, which, the company said, strikes an ideal balance of aesthetics and functionality. The new CW349 Curved Wood A/V system features sides crafted of real curved wood in a deep Espresso finish. It can accommodate most flat-panel TVs up to 55 inches or 125 pounds, plus at least four audio/video components on tinted tempered safety glass shelves. The open-architecture design allows for access to component connectors, provides ventilation for convection cooling, and has a built-in CMS cable-management system to hide and manage all cables and power cords.
