Toronto AudioFest, October 20, 2022, Toronto Canada – Lenbrook Americas, a specialty distributor of high-performance and high-value audio components, is pleased to be able to showcase the DALI brand’s much-anticipated KORE speaker at Toronto AudioFest 2022. First announced in September and expected to retail for USD $110,000 when stock begins to arrive to North America in November 2022, the DALI KORE represents a bold demonstration of the brand’s technical prowess when no limits are placed on the product team. The result is a feat of acoustic engineering and industrial design that so delicately enunciates musical detail, rich dynamics, and lifelike imaging that it seems to defy the speaker’s mammoth proportions. Toronto audiophiles will be the first in North America to experience this impressive technical achievement by DALI, the second largest speaker brand in the world, as part of DALI’s presentation at Toronto AudioFest at the Westin Toronto Airport Hotel in Room Sutton A on the lobby level from October 21-23, 2022.
“There is so much to be proud of in this speaker,” says Lars Worre, Chief Executive Officer of DALI Speakers. “We set out to test the limits of what our product team could do, and the process was utterly revealing in that not only could we see all that was possible, but it also told us where we needed partnerships to realize our ambitions.”
Assembled entirely in DALI’s production facilities in Nørager, Denmark, KORE features two 11” woofers and a 7” mid-range driver, produced with the brand’s signature wood fibre cones and honeycomb sandwich paper-pulp diaphragm, which balances stiffness with nuanced movement for optimal frequency and dynamic response. High frequencies are handled by an all-new EVO-K hybrid 35mm dome and soft fabric ribbon tweeter, tuned to deliver the high-frequency octaves between 15 and 30 kHz with the dome tweeter elegantly crossing over to the mid-range driver. The drivers are controlled by a patented dual voice coil design with next-generation SMC (Soft Magnetic Compound) material that prevents electro-magnetic forces from interfering with the circuitry that precisely regulates coil movements.
The KORE’s sleek Ammara Ebony finish, featuring elegant golden veining through a rich and warm ebony wood, originates from a local furniture manufacturer that DALI partnered with to achieve a consistent supply of artisan-quality lacquered cabinets. The cabinets feature 17 layers of birch wood veneer, with each layer oriented so the woodgrain is perpendicular to the one below it and adhered together by a glossy lacquer to withstand the daily wear and tear of residential furniture, creating an incredibly stiff and low-resonance cabinet. Reinforced with a 34 kg concrete base and a die-cast aluminum mid-range and tweeter baffle assembly and strategically placed woofers, the KORE optimizes horizontal and vertical dispersion without distortion from standing waves or crosstalk.
“DALI KORE is the culmination of everything we have learned about speaker design and manufacture since 1983,” says Krestian Pedersen, Head of Product Management at DALI. “Each pair takes us a week to produce, with a combination of hand-crafted care and precision tools, and none leave our premises without thorough testing for what we hope is life-long musical enjoyment.”
The speakers will begin arriving to very select North American dealers in November, starting with Soundlux in Miami, FL, and followed by Simply Stereo in Chicago, IL, and Origin HiFi in Austin, TX, in early 2023.
“While the brand has wide acclaim in other parts of the world, it is our hope that DALI KORE makes a gutsy statement for the brand in Canada and the United States,” says Jason Zidle, DALI Brand Manager for Lenbrook Americas. “Combined with the artisanal nature of their production, only retailers who are capable of reinforcing the exceptional level of design and manufacture that DALI KORE represents will be allowed to carry the product.”
