VR And Gaming Fuel 19% Rise In Newegg’s Black Friday Weekend Revenues

Brisk sales of VR equipment, gaming notebooks and video game consoles sent Newegg’s Thanksgiving weekend haul up 19.1 percent year over year, the e-tailer reported, contributing to a record November.

Newegg said its sales growth for the holiday period spanning Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday outpaced e-commerce overall, which increased 15.2 percent over the same five days, according to Adobe Digital Insights.

Also adding to the company’s strong holiday showing was demand for PC upgrade components and accessories such as graphics cards, SSDs and monitors, Newegg noted.

The tech specialty e-tailer, which held a month-long series of Black November promotions, said it also enjoyed its most successful November to date, driven in part by its strong Thanksgiving weekend performance.

The site’s other sales-friendly features include a ship-to-FedEx-location option; order-status tracking; a dedicated VR portal to help optimize PCs for the VR experience; plus millions of customer reviews and a customer service team to provide product advice and support.
