San Jose, Calif. -— TiVo and the HSN announced a partnership Wednesday through which HSN will use TiVo technology to facilitate orders through the TV set.
The partnership provides a new level of content delivery in the advanced television platform while giving consumers a new level of convenience.
The Apps & Games menu on TiVo Central will house the new HSN app, which viewers can use to view and purchase recently featured items or browse HSN’s catalog of more than 40,000 products.
Products range from home décor to jewelry and electronics.
“TiVo understands that consumers have come to expect more from their television viewing experience — they expect valuable content, delivered conveniently and easily on one platform,” stated Tara Maitra, TiVo content and media sales general manager and senior VP. “By partnering with HSN, TiVo is doing just that,” said Tara Maitra, TiVo senior VP, general manager, content and media sales. “No longer will television viewers need to leave their TV to search online to find what they just saw on HSN. Instead, they can pause their favorite shopping show and buy it directly through TiVo Central, all from the comfort of their home.”
TiVo said the technology and company pairing marks the first time interactive shopping has been a part of its set-top box experience, giving TiVo users the ability to record and play TV programs, stream programs from the Internet and shop for products while watching TV.

Existing HSN customers can use their current log-in to start shopping immediately, while new HSN customers can create an account and begin, the companies said.
