Schaefer’s Wins Nebraska Retail Federation Honors

Schaefer’s, the independent TV and appliance dealership in Lincoln, Neb., was named a Nebraska Retail Champion by the Nebraska Retail Federation.

The honor lauds the contributions of local merchants to their communities in job creation, charity support and tax contributions, and was doled out to three Cornhusker State retailers out of 17 nominees.

Schaefer’s, a two-showroom chain with over 70 employees, was cited for its positive management-employee relations; its donation of patient kitchen at Lincoln’s Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital; its appliance giveaways to the needy; and its regular participation in community fundraisers.

The family-run business is led by third-generation owner Ron Romero, an active industry leader who currently heads the Nationwide West division of the Nationwide Marketing Group, and is a past president of the North American Retail Dealers Association (NARDA).

“Ron exemplifies what Retail Champions do to generously support local community causes and succeed in spite of keen competition,” said Nebraska Retail Federation president Jim Otto. “He embodies the fighting spirit of American small business and gives back to the community efforts in countless ways. Ron is truly a Nebraska Retail Champion.”

Romero will join his fellow Nebraska Champions (The Kloset and The Green Spot) on an expense-paid trip to Washington July 17 to compete in a national Retail Champion competition held by the Nebraska group’s parent association, the National Retail Federation (NRF).
