Samsung managed to outpace rival Sony in the last year by producing the top-selling LCD TV in the 36-inch and above segment in the 40-inch LNS4051D, according to retail sell-through data gathered by The NPD Group. While Sony made a huge impact on sales following the introduction of its Bravia model line in 2005, Samsung charged back with this stylish 40-inch gem that features 1,366-by-768 resolution, an 8ms response time, a 4,000:1 contrast ratio, two HDMI inputs and a game mode that optimizes image quality and sound for video game play. The Game Mode enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances sound. The set, which saw average retails less than $1,500, will also support a range of Samsung MP3 players and other portable digital audio devices with an RS-232 port that enables users to navigate the player’s content on-screen with the TV’s remote. Cosmetics include a thin piano-black frame and curved-edge styling design.
