Logitech Takes Aim At Custom-Install Channel With Harmony Pro

Logitech unveiled its first product dedicated to the custom-install channel and said it will offer additional products in the coming months to meet installers’ needs.

The product is the Logitech Harmony Pro touchscreen remote with included Harmony Hub. They will be available this month at $399 exclusively through commercial and residential installers. The combo adds custom-oriented features to the current Logitech Harmony Elite, which is available through such retailers as Amazon and Best Buy but also sold by some installers. The Pro will be available exclusively through U.S. distributors DOW and ADI.

“Harmony Pro is the first example of our efforts to meet their special requirements, and we have several more planned over the coming months to address the commercial channel,” said Renee Neimi, VP/general manager of Logitech Smart Home.

A spokesperson declined to say whether the future products would be available exclusively to installers. “We can’t comment on the future product roadmap, but the team is looking forward to working more with the installer community to learn more about their needs and how Logitech Harmony can support them.”

Compared with the $349 Harmony Elite, the Harmony Pro features cosmetic difference, twice the warranty, and — in lieu of IR emitters — an IR blaster kit with IR cables to deliver more precise control of up to eight IR-controlled home-entertainment devices.

Both models deliver control of IR, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi smart-home products and, via a $99 Harmony Home Extender, ZigBee and Z-Wave devices. They also enable control from a smartphone.

Said DOW executive VP John P. Yodzis, “We believe Harmony Pro will give integrators the opportunity for additional programing, customization and automation, ultimately allowing our integrator partners the ability to generate additional revenue.”
