Umax Expands CE Offering

Dallas — Hailing it as the among the largest product releases in the company’s history, Umax announced its expansion into several new product categories, including mini hard drives, flash drives and MP3 players.

In the hard drive category, the company will roll out the Pollax 300 portable drive in a 2.2GB and 4GB capacity for a suggested $109.99 and $149.99, respectively. The drives measure 9mm thick with a USB 2.0 high-speed cable for PC connectivity and for drawing power.

The company will also offer a USB 2.0 flash drive under the Apus name. The drives will be available in capacities from 128MB to 1GB with password protection. A 1GB drive will retail for $79.99, the 512MB s for $49.99, 256MB for $29.99, and the 128MB version will retail for a suggested $19.99.

Umax will close out its new offerings with two flash-based MP3 players. The Vega 203, for a suggested $79.99, offers 512MB of built-in memory, a voice recorder and a stereo FM tuner with eight presets. It features an SD/MMC card slot, full equalizer settings and multiple language displays.

The Vega 107 also doubles as a voice recorder and features an FM tuner, seven equalizer settings and 20 preset radio stations but no card slot. It will be available in 512MB, 256MB or 128MB capacities for a suggested $89.99, $69.99 and $49.99, respectively.
