Startup BassNation Building Dealer Base

San Diego – BassNation Audio, a startup audio supplier led by audio-industry veteran Steffen Meeks, has begun hiring sales reps to market its first product, the BlackBox.

The $299 BlackBox is a pro-style single-cabinet stereo speaker system that connects to audio sources, including car stereo systems, via headphone jack or RCA connection. It runs on AC but comes with 12-volt power adapter for use with a car stereo system.

The product is targeted to value-conscience music enthusiasts, said Meeks, whose 28 years in the audio industry includes time at JBL, Yamaha, Polk Audio and Acoustic Research.

Musicians such as Aly and AJ, Periphery, Evan Taubenfeld, David Cook, Devin Bronson, and former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagen have endorsed the product through Twitter, the company said.

The company also hired Devin Bronson, a Los Angeles-based lead guitarist, songwriter and music producer, as spokesperson. Bronson has performed with such recording artists as Avril Lavinge, Kelly Osborne, P!nk, Demi Lovato and American Idol winner David Cook.

The BlackBox features 50-watt digital amp, dual 6.5-inch woofers, dual 1-inch high-efficiency tweeters, bass-reflex ported enclosure made of MDF and wrapped in pro-grade vinyl, stereo mini jack, and stereo L/R audio inputs with included cables, steel corner protectors, steel speaker grilles, and heavy-duty rubber and steel carrying handle.

BassNation Audio plans to sell through brick-and-mortar and authorized Internet dealers. Meeks can be reached at [email protected].
