Sony and Lexar Media announced a cross-licensing agreement to have Lexar produce Sony Memory Stick flash memory and Sony to utilize Lexar’s flash memory-card-controller technology.
Sony’s interest is in improving the data transfer speed of the Memory Stick with the Lexar controller technology.
The Lexar spokesman said the company’s controller should boost the Memory Stick transfer speed about four times. The Lexar-enhanced Memory Sticks are not expected to be available until the end of the year.
