Herrington Named Sharp President

Mahwah, N.J. –
John Herrington, former president of U.S. sales for LG Electronics, has been
named president of Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA).

He replaces

Mike
Troetti

, who left Sharp earlier this year and was recently named president
of Coby Electronics.

Herrington is
responsible for the U.S.  sales and marketing
of all Sharp’s consumer electronics products including those in the display,
audio and video categories, as well as health- and environment-related
products, Sharp said.

He reports to T.
Tanimoto, senior executive VP, who has executive responsibility for finished
products groups such as SEMCA, Sharp Imaging and Information and Sharp’s Latin
America Group.

In a prepared
statement, Herrington said, “Around the world the Sharp brand stands for
quality, value and innovation, and I look forward to joining the Sharp team to
help further the growth of Sharp’s brand and market share in the U.S.”

Tanimoto said,
“John’s strong background in consumer electronics and deep relationships with
retailers will benefit Sharp. “We are pleased to have him leading our consumer
electronics team and we are confident in his ability to help Sharp achieve
steady growth.”

Prior to LG,
Herrington spent 10 years at Amana appliances in various marketing and sales
roles and was eventually marketing VP and head of national account sales. In the
1980s he was he was with major appliance maker Speed Queen.

Herrington

was with LG Electronics since 2002 and left the company in May.
