The CEDIA Foundation has opened applications for Your Future, Fully Integrated, a workforce development program designed to help people enter the professional smart home industry.
Selected applicants in the U.S., U.K., India, Australia, and Canada will receive a grant covering the cost of CEDIA’s Smart Home Fundamentals online training. The self-paced course takes about 20 hours and covers entry-level technician skills including audio, video, wiring and cabling, termination and testing, construction methods, equipment installation, retrofit techniques, safety and building codes.
Participants in select U.S. and U.K. markets who complete the online coursework will be invited to continue with hands-on training through a CEDIA Residential Bootcamp. The training will be held at CEDIA headquarters and partner facilities.
Recipients will also receive a free career coaching consultation from Amplify People, which provides talent and career services to AV and integration professionals.
The program is open to applicants aged 18 and older, including near or recent graduates and those with transferable skills from construction, networking and information technology. Applicants must be interested in pursuing a career in the smart home industry.
“Programs like Your Future, Fully Integrated are only possible because of the generosity of our donors and the commitment of the smart home community to keep building the workforce of tomorrow,” says Tara Guertin, CEDIA Foundation operations & workforce development manager. “We encourage everyone in the channel to help spread the word. There may be someone in your network with the skills and passion to succeed in this industry who simply has not yet discovered this career path.”
Applications are open through Nov. 13. The CEDIA Foundation lists additional eligibility requirements and training locations on its program website.
