Allow me to introduce myself — my name is Anthony Savona (but you can call me Tony), and I am the new content director for Residential Systems. As you may have heard, Residential Systems founder and longtime editorial leader Jeremy Glowacki left at the end of May to pursue other adventures. I have known Jeremy — and Residential Systems — since the magazine’s inception, and I not only wish him the best, but plan to take good care of this brand that so many in the industry have come to rely on.
A little about me: I have been with this company in its various forms since 1991. I started in pro audio as managing editor of EQ and, later, was founding editor of Surround Professional. I had a taste of the installer side with Car Sound & Performance and AutoMedia magazines, and I also helped drive content on the commercial side with Rental & Staging Systems and Digital Signage Magazine.
During my tenure as NewBay’s director of content and marketing, I was involved with all of the NewBay B2B (now Future) brands over the years — working with both the editorial and sales teams. For nearly all of my time here, I have worked closely with all of the editors, assisting with communications and organization, getting a big-picture view of the commercial and residential integration industries, as well as consumer electronics, pro audio, education technology, and broadcast.
You want clips? Here’s something I wrote for Pro Sound News.
Having knowledge of Residential Systems from the start, I am excited to be taking over its editorial direction, and I am really looking forward to working with our great stable of columnists to continue to provide you with real-world intelligence that you can put to use today. But I am also interested in what the future holds for this industry, and how we can all play a part in it.
In my most recent history with this company, I was charged with examining new technologies and seeing what parts they could play in each of these industries we cover, and what we found in pulling the curtain back was fascinating. Whether it be blockchain, 5G, AI, or other buzzworthy tech on the horizon, I want the Residential Systems audience to be on the inside track, and determine how much of your valuable time should be devoted to these potentially disruptive innovations, and which will be gone quicker than fidget spinners.
Jeremy has provided us with a strong foundation that I cannot thank him enough for, and I am looking to build upon that to take residential integrators to the next level — keeping ahead of the latest trends and technological advances, and pointing the way to success.
To that end, please include me in the conversation and reach out to me with all of your ideas, newsworthy projects, or concerns. I am very interested in hearing from you, and can be reached at anthony.savona@futurenet.com and 212-378-0450. I am also taking over the @ResiSys twitter account and our Facebook and LinkedIn groups — there are so many places for us to connect, and I hope we do.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I promise from here on out, it will be less about me and all about you.
Best regards,
Tony
