Sharp Makes Latest Personnel Move

Mahwah, N.J. — Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA) tapped former Panasonic executive Fred Ehmke as director of sales responsible for managing the Best Buy and Target accounts for TV and audio products.

In the newly created position, Ehmke will report to Peter Weedfald, who was recently hired as SEMCA’s senior sales VP.

Ehmke joins Sharp from Panasonic Consumer Electronics, where he most recently held national sales responsibilities for Best Buy, Target, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Amazon, Costco and Rent-A-Center.

“As Sharp is launching an extensive new family of 4K UHD TVs, we are thrilled to have Fred’s highly regarded leadership and consumer electronics experience join us on our determined mission for market growth,” said Weedfald.

The appointment is the latest in a series of executive shifts at SEMCA. Sharp recently appointed Weedfald to his newly created position to oversee U.S. and Latin America sales of Sharp consumer products, including TVs, audio and home appliances.

Also earlier this year, Mark Viken added product marketing responsibilities to his brand-marketing duties, becoming VP of brand and product marketing for all of the consumer categories.

Also Sharp’s health and environmental solutions group appointed Shawn McCarter as its first sales director dedicated to the channel. And in early January, Jim Sanduski became SEMCA president after serving in that capacity on an interim basis for several weeks upon the departure of John Herrington.
