Brane Audio, an Austin-based sound technology company, has hired Derrick Johnson as the Vice President of Sales. Johnson spent more than two decades at Bose where he was most recently Head of Distributor Sales for the United States and Canada.
Utilizing his extensive experience in the Consumer Electronics industry, Johnson will develop strategies for growing the Brane Audio brand through dealer partnerships in the United States and international markets, with a focus on regional and specialty retailers. He is based in Central Texas near the Brane headquarters in Austin.

Bringing Brane’s Breakthrough Technology to More Customers
Last year, Brane Audio released its flagship product, Brane X, which is the first portable speaker with a true subwoofer built in. Weighing only 7.7 lbs, Brane X delivers 10X more sub-bass than any other speaker in its size class, while using just 10% of the power of a conventional subwoofer.
This was made possible through Brane’s breakthrough Repel-Attract-Driver (RAD) that uses a proprietary array of permanent magnets to cancel internal air pressure forces that usually inhibit deep bass in smaller speakers.
The RAD is the most commercially significant innovation in audio driver technology in a century. While there has been massive innovation in audio over the past century – from solid state amplifiers, high energy batteries, digital signal processors, and voice control – there has been virtually no innovation on the basic audio driver.
The RAD’s novel force cancellation design allows Brane speakers to be compact, efficient, and capable of producing deeper bass than any comparable speaker on the market. The company is currently working on improving its RAD technology advantage and scaling it to a second product.
