Funai Corp. President Padalino Resigns

Rutherford, N.J. — Ernie Padalino, Funai Corp. president/COO, resigned from the company after almost five years in the position to pursue new career interests, the company announced.

Hiroshi Shibata, president of P&F USA, will assume Padalino’s responsibilities while maintaining his current position as president of P&F USA, the company said.

Funai Corp. and P&F USA are both subsidiaries of Funai Electric-Osaka of Japan.

Funai Corp. is responsible for the sourcing, sales and marketing of TV and video products carrying the Magnavox, Funai, Emerson and Sanyo brands in the U.S. Funai Electric’s Atlanta-based P&F USA subsidiary markets the Philips brand of TVs and video in the Americas.

Shibata’s role as president of Funai Corp. and P&F USA brings control of two Philips-owned brands — Philips and Magnavox — together again in TV and video in the U.S.

Recently, Philips and Funai Electric-Osaka extended a brand license agreement for the Philips and Magnavox brands in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and select Latin American countries for TV and video products through Dec. 31, 2018. The initial agreement between Philips and Funai Electric began in 2008.

The marketing of other Philips-brand products, as well as select brands such as Onkyo headphones, are handled in North America by Gibson Innovations USA. It and Gibson Innovation, the former audio, video, multimedia and accessories business of Philips, are owned by Gibson Brands. Gibson Innovations USA markets Philips-brand headphones, Bluetooth speakers, audio playback speakers, accessories, DECT cordless phones and other new products to be announced.
