Bill Thiele Joins Display-Vu To Lead RCA TV Re-Launch

Updated! Display-Vu Corp., an affiliate of Curtis International, has brought on Bill Thiele as sales VP to head the re-introduction of RCA brand TVs in the U.S.

Thiele has been in the industry for more than 25 years, having held positions at Voxx International, Munitio, Monster, Best Buy and Toshiba.

He will be tasked with leading the domestic re-launch of RCA TVs, now that RCA licensor Technicolor ended its relationship with Activeon and broadened its partnership with Curtis. The Canadian company currently sells RCA TVs north of the border, and is also licensed by RCA Trademark Management SAS, Technicolor’s administrator, to offer RCA branded mobile devices and majaps, as well as CE products under the ProScan badge.

The new Display-Vu TV series includes three 4K UHD models with 43-, 55- and curved 55-inch LED displays and suggested retails of $400, $500 and $999, respectively. There’s also a 4.3-inch portable TV ($80 retail) and a 22-inch TV/DVD combo unit, priced to hit a $180 price point.

“We’re excited to bring our TVs into the RCA fold for the U.S.,” said Aaron Herzog, CEO, Curtis International. “The brand has a history of great TV innovations and we think customers are going to love the 2017 RCA TV’s immersive technology at affordable prices.”

Added Thiele: “I am very excited to lead the re-introduction of the most iconic U.S. TV brand. RCA has a deeply rooted relationship in the U.S. with both consumers and retailers, and I intend to reconnect the relationships and ensure RCA regains its primary significance in the TV industry.”

In addition to TVs, Curtis’ latest mobile and majap contingent includes two tablets, six unlocked smartphones, a full-size retro fridge, a microwave oven, and an 18-bottle wine cooler, all under the RCA banner.

“Whether customers are looking for a cutting-edge UHD curved TV, a 2-in-1 tablet, a dual-SIM smartphone, or the best in home appliances, we offer something for everyone and every budget,” noted Technicolor licensing VP Marie-Josee Cantin Johnson.

The new RCA assortment will make its debut at CES 2017 in booth 11427, LVCC, Central Hall.
