Syntax-Brillian Agrees To LG.Philips Panel Deal

Tempe, Ariz. — Syntax-Brillian said Monday it signed an agreement last month to acquire LCD panels from LG.Philips LCD.

Under the terms of the agreement, LG.Philips guarantees to supply Syntax-Brillian with a minimum of 750,000 LCD panels during 2008 for 32-inch, 37-inch, 42-inch, 42-inch (1080p) and 47-inch (1080p) HD LCD TVs. The companies also agreed to give Syntax-Brillian an option to expand the purchase as needed based on market demand.

“We are pleased to announce this agreement with LG.Philips,” stated James Li, Syntax-Brillian’s CEO. “This agreement is significant for Syntax-Brillian because it provides us with the new full-HD 1080p resolution panels that we demonstrated at CES in January in both 42-inch-type and 47-inch-type sizes. We believe this strategic agreement demonstrates the achievements of our brand recognition in securing the needed panels to supply our channel partners with state-of-the-art technology.”
