Bottom-Mount Refrigerators: LG Electronics LG LFX31935 French-Door Refrigerator8/11/2013 08:00:00 PM Eastern
After nearly a century of top-mount domination, bottom-mount configurations have become the cat’s pajamas in home refrigeration.
And for dealers and distributors voting in TWICE’s VIP Awards, the industry’s top bottom-mount in terms of features, design and value is LG Electronics’ LFX31935 Super-Capacity three-door French-door refrigerator with “blast chiller” technology.
French-door models, which provide a side-by-side configuration for the upper fridge compartment, are a popular subset of bottom mounts, which gives the LFX31935 another leg up on the competition. But what really sets this piece apart is its massive 30.5-cubic-foot capacity and Blast Chiller technology that can chill a 12-ounce beverage can in less than five minutes or two cans or a bottle of wine in just eight minutes.
The Energy Star-rated fridge also keeps food fresher longer thanks to LG’s Smart Cooling Plus system. The patented system employs a linear compressor and dual evaporators that react quickly to changes in humidity and temperature to help maintain an optimal clime within the cavity. The linear compressor, which uses fewer moving parts, also provides better energy efficiency, quiet operation, greater durability and is covered by a 10-year limited warranty.
The cooling system also features a fresh air filter and vents that are strategically placed in every section of the unit to surround items with cool, fresh air regardless of where the contents are placed.
The upper fridge section also has a four-compartment crisper system with humidity control; a full-width, temperature controlled Glide n’Serve drawer; seven door baskets; a dairy corner; and premium LED interior lighting. In addition, a Slim Space Plus ice system provides more space on the shelves and door bins.
The bottom-mount freezer compartment offers three-tier organization and a Dura- Base solid drawer base.
A CES 2012 Best of Innovations award winner, the LFX31935 retails for $3,400 and is still available pending discontinuation at The Home Depot and Warners’ Stellian, as well as independent dealers like Karl’s Appliance and Plessers.
