Best Buy, LG, EPA Flip Out On ‘Ellen’

Los Angeles – A trio of appliance partners kicked off a new energy conservation campaign this week on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

In observation of Earth Day, Best Buy, LG Electronics USA and the U.S. Environmental Agency (EPA) were invited to launch the latter’s new “Flip Your Fridge” initiative on the comedienne’s daytime talk show on Wednesday.

The Energy Star effort encourages consumers to responsibly recycle their old, power-thirsty refrigerators and upgrade to energy-efficient new ones. Doing so can save owners as much as $260 over five years and will help protect the climate by reducing a household’s carbon footprint by 7,900 pounds, the agency said.

To help herald the campaign, LG’s line of Energy Star-certified majaps, available at Best Buy, were showcased on the TV show, and viewers were given the opportunity to win the kitchen and laundry models.

In addition, audience members received two $500 Best Buy gift cards courtesy of “Ellen,” LG and Best Buy that can be used toward the purchase of LG’s energy-efficient majaps.
