Sim2 Joins ProSource, Unveils M.150

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/23/2012

LAS VEGAS — Sim2 USA announced at International CES that it has become a member of specialty CE buying/ merchandising group ProSource, and demonstrated for the first time the M.150 3D LED DLP-based projector that can be positioned as a new home interior lighting technology.

The M.150, which is shipping now at a $28,000 suggested retail, can be set up to converge light, beauty and technology to present a pleasing array of color and imagery to electrify the room ambience or present highperformance 2D and 3D 1080p video entertainment.

The projector uses Texas Instruments’ DLP light engine and a 1,100 ANSI lumens LED lamp source, rated to 30,000 hours.

The company explained that a combination of the brightness of the LED system and its longer lifespan enables the M.150 to be used for longer periods of time, enabling a whole range of creative options beyond simply projecting high-quality 2D and 3D 1080p videos.

It can be used to paint home interiors with light and images to “inspire creativity and add vitality to the home,” noted Alberto Fabiano, Sim2 USA executive VP.

In concept, home owners will use the system to display personal photographs, art, mood lighting or movies in a visually pleasing way.

In teasing the projector, Sim2 called the product “the world’s first 3D active LED video interior design system.”

“When quality is combined with unparalleled technology and design, it harmoniously creates a visual experience that can be described only as fine art,” said Fabiano. “This system is a defining direction for the new year. Sim2 is offering a product that transcends traditional home cinema, and provides a unique visual solution to video furnish one’s home with light.”

The DLP projection system offers a wide palette of colors and light to add subtle visual ambiance, or create a bright, colorful reproduction of digital imagery.

Fabiano added, “With this introduction, Sim2 is once again first to market a system that is not only technologically superior, but a true lifestyle enhancement for its owner.”

Meanwhile, the ProSource move opens the doors to Sim2 products to wider group of A/V specialty and custom installers.

ProSource represents approximately 950 storefronts and generating $3.6 billion dollars in annual CE revenue. Sim2 said ProSource group offers its members critical advantages for maximizing business opportunities with the independent specialty retailer.

“Our alliance with ProSource provides continued synergy among our dealer network,” said Fabiano. “A buying group of this caliber offers competitive advantages and cohesively blends with our current market strategy. Despite the challenging economy, we have not strayed from our original position; we continue to manufacture the very best in the luxury home cinema market.”
