More USB 3.0 Products Certified

Hannover, Germany - The USB Implementers Forum said today it has given 200 products SuperSpeed USB certification.

The new SuperSpeed USB, or USB 3.0, devices include notebooks, external storage devices, flash drives, media players and PCI Express add-in cards.

The announcement was made here at the CeBIT technology show.

USB 3.0's data-transfer speed is about 10 times faster than USB 2.0, and it uses less energy, said the Implementers Forum.

IDC is forecasting USB 3.0 adoption will pick up during the latter half of 2012 and be included in 80 percent of all mobile PCs shipped by 2013.
