Sonos Opens Up To XM Subscribers

Santa Barbara, Calif. - XM satellite radio subscribers will be able to access SiriusXM Internet Radio for the first time through Sonos wireless multi-room-audio systems, joining their Sirius counterparts, Sonos announced.

XM subscribers with an existing online XM account must visit http://home.xmradio.com to update their passwords so they're compatible with Sonos systems.

 New Sonos customers in the U.S. automatically receive a 30-day introductory trial of SiriusXM Internet Radio.  After that, access requires a $2.99/month SiriusXM Internet Radio subscription when added to an existing Sirius or XM satellite radio account. An Internet-only subscription costs $12.95/month.

SiriusXM Internet Radio streams more than 120 channels of commercial-free music, exclusive talk and entertainment, sports talk, comedy, and news. The selection includes talk entertainment personalities Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Laura Schlessinger.

One subscription delivers access via PCs, Sonos and smartphones equipped with a SiriusXM app, according to the company's website.

The Internet radio announcement follows the recent announcement that Sonos plans late-March availability of a free Android app to deliver Wi-Fi control of Sonos systems from most Android smartphones. The app will work with any Android smartphone running Android 2.1 or later with a screen size of HVGA 320 by 480, WVGA 480 by 800, or WVGA 480 by 854. The Android app joins free control apps for iPhones and iPads, a dedicated touchscreen controller, the Sonos Controller 200, and free controller software for Macs and PCs.

 Sonos systems wirelessly access music from a PC or network-attached storage device. Via a networked broadband wireless modem, Sonos systems also directly access more than 100,000 Internet radio stations, shows and podcasts as well as such online services as Deezer, iHeartradio, Last.fm, Napster, Pandora, Rdio, Rhapsody, Spotify, Wolfgang's Vault, SiriusXM Internet Radio and others.
