An AT&T CruiseCast spokesman was unable to respond yesterday. It is not clear whether service will continue for existing customers.
The $1,299 CruiseCast system offered 22 channels of video and 20 channels of audio and was carried by more than 600 retailers, including Car Toys and Crutchfield. It required a service fee of $28/month.
The product is no longer shown on Crutchfield.com although it is still shown on CarToys.com.
A competing car TV service from Audiovox, using Qualcomm's FLO TV, is expected to debut in the fourth quarter. Equipment will carry a price of approximately $599 to $699 with one year of free service.
