Crestron Enters RF Home Control

Rockleigh, N.J. - Crestron plans to broaden its customer base with the launch of a Prodigy line of home-control gear that uses wireless control signals and a software setup wizard to help bring the company's brand to lower priced installations.

Wireless devices include a handheld RF remote, home theater/media controller, in-wall lighting controls and dimmers, thermostat, wireless in-wall multizone audio keypad, wireless repeater, and gateway to control wireless lighting and thermostats. A more traditional wired in-wall touchscreen is also available.
The line will also include more traditional multizone audio components, consisting of an AM/FM/XM tuner. iPod interface, and a four-zone, six-source 8x50-watt multizone amplifier that sends speaker-level audio via wires to custom-installed speakers in other rooms. The amp is expandable to 12 zones. Some of these products ship in September, while others ship in November.
The handheld remote, home theater/media controller and gateway retail for a combined $825, excluding installation.
