Logitech Debuts Vid Calling Software

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech introduced today what it is calling an easier solution to video calling.

The Vid software is available as a free download.

currently available for free download now at www.logitech.com/vid if you have a Logitech Web cam. If you don’t have a Logitech Web cam, you can still use Vid if a caller invites you in.

The software automatically sets up when one of the company’s Web cams is plugged in; there are no screen names or third-party software to download.

“When you’re ready to make a video call, Vid uses your friend or family member’s email address to connect,” said Logitech in a statement. “Your friend simply accepts your email invitation to participate in a video call on Vid, and you’re both connected and ready to chat.”

It is compatible with both Macs and PCs.

Logitech also announced an addition to its line of Bluetooth mice. The M555b features the company’s Hyper-fast scrolling, laser tracking, low-battery indicator, a sleep mode, an on/off switch and five programmable buttons. It retails for a suggested $49.99 and is scheduled to ship this month.
