Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf to Address the Revolutionary Effect of 5G at CES 2017 Keynote

Arlington, VA, November 15, 2016 – The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ today announced that Qualcomm Incorporated CEO Steve Mollenkopf will take the keynote stage at CES® 2017. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association, CES 2017 will run January 5-8, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV.

Mollenkopf will address CES attendees at 9 AM on Friday, January 6 in the Palazzo Ballroom in the Venetian. He will discuss the revolutionary impact 5G will have in our day-to-day life, both from a technological and experiential perspective, as well as its broader impact on industries outside of mobile.

“Steve Mollenkopf is a leader in the mobile world,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “He has been instrumental in propelling smartphones into the mainstream by bringing the latest technologies into mobile devices, and strengthening Qualcomm’s global leadership. In a world that is driven by mobile devices and connectivity, Qualcomm is at the forefront of innovation.”

For more than 30 years, Qualcomm has defined the wireless industry, leading the world to 3G and 4G, and now to 5G. 5G is the newest technology standard in development for mobile technology. It is a foundational technology that will enable connectivity on a massive scale, facilitating immersive experiences, driving the Internet of Things (IoT) and allowing for new mission critical services.

Since becoming CEO in March 2015, Mollenkopf has led the expansion of Qualcomm’s business into sectors such as the IoT, wearables, automotive and healthcare. He is a published (IEEE) author and holds seven patents in areas such as power estimation and measurement, multi-standard transmitters and wireless communication transceiver technology.
