Plug-In Network Modules Simplify Yale Assure Lock Integration With Major Smart Home Systems

LAS VEGAS, April 6, 2017 – Yale Locks & Hardware today announced a redesigned smart lock family that simplifies integration with major home automation and alarm platforms. The new Yale Assure Lock™ electronic deadbolts can be easily integrated with a home automation or alarm system by plugging in a Yale Network Module. Switching between smart home platforms is as simple as replacing one module with another.

Each Assure Lock can be purchased as a standalone deadbolt or upgraded for smart home integration with the addition of a Z-Wave®, ZigBee® or HomeKit™ network module. The module simply plugs into the interior piece of the deadbolt, right above the batteries, and can be added or swapped at any time by the homeowner.

“Homeowners are often overwhelmed by the proliferation of home automation systems and products, and uncertain about which system they should buy into,” said Jason Williams, president, ASSA ABLOY U.S. Residential Group, which includes Yale Residential. “Our modular design removes that anxiety because our Assure Lock works with every major technology platform from SmartThings to HomeKit to Alarm.com. It’s just a matter of plugging in the appropriate module – there’s no need to change deadbolts, whether upgrading from a standalone lock or switching from one smart home platform to another.”

The Yale Assure Lock line includes four deadbolts — two key free models and two with keyways. Z-Wave or ZigBee versions of all four locks are compatible with Amazon Alexa when used in conjunction with a Samsung SmartThings Hub or Wink Hub (Z-Wave only for Wink). The Assure Lock line includes:

  • Assure Lock with Bluetooth (YRD446) – A key free model that comes with Bluetooth built-in; conventional keys are replaced with digital keys accessed through the Yale Assure app for Android and iOS mobile devices. It includes a built-in touchscreen keypad;
  • Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256) – Announced today, a sleek, key free deadbolt offering a minimalist profile;
  • Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD226) – Offers both a touchscreen keypad and a keyway;
  • Yale Assure Lock Push Button Deadbolt (YRD216) – Offers both a push button keypad and a keyway.

 Yale Network Modules can be purchased directly from Yale at Yale2You.com or with a lock from Yale retailers, including Amazon.com. When purchased separately, the modules are priced at $74.99.
