Tablets Still Reign Over Holidays

BRISBANE, CALIF. — With all the focus on wearables and 4K this holiday, tablets and laptops apparently remain the most desired and the most giftable CE products of the season.

According to a survey of 4,500 consumers conducted last month for digital content creator Mode Media, here, the IT devices topped holiday wish lists with votes of 16 percent each, while tablets were cited as the top gift item by 11 percent of respondents.

Their continuing popularity was also confirmed in a separate holiday poll by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), in which the computer products edged out all other CE as the ones shoppers would most like to find under the Christmas tree.

Tying for second place in Mode Media’s poll of most-wanted CE gifts were mobile phones and gaming consoles at 10 percent, followed by cameras and TVs at 9 percent each, and fitness bands and headphones tying at 7 percent each.

4K displays were only desired by 4 percent of respondents, putting the much-vaunted category at the bottom of holiday wish lists, while only 2 percent of respondents would consider giving an UHD TV as a gift, the survey showed.
