Edmond, Okla. — Petra Industries, the national CE distributor, is opening a new, larger distribution center in its hometown, here.
The company has acquired a property less than a mile from headquarters with 525,000 square feet of warehouse space. Petra plans to utilize 275,000 square feet of it for the first phase of its expansion, to be completed during the second quarter with the relocation of all distribution functions from its headquarters facility, including shipping, receiving and will-call.
Petra’s current location will continue to serve as home for office headquarters and will also house Petra’s reverse logistics operations.
The news follows word of recent and possible future expansion by distributors PowerHouse Alliance and Almo Corp., which together with Petra’s new facility are indicative of renewed industry growth.
Petra president Tate Morgan said the investment “provides more space for current operations and also gives us a tremendous opportunity for continued growth and increased operational performance.”
CEO and founder Bill Stewart added that the new distribution center will feature state-of-the-art technologies to provide “an even higher level of service to our customers,” while its close proximity to headquarters “will allow for a smooth transition as we expand our operations.”
The 30-year-old distributor carries more than 20,000 CE, wireless, custom installation, mobile A/V accessories, and appliance connection products from more than 500 manufacturers.
