D&H To Open New Warehouse

Harrisburg, Pa. — D&H Distributing will open a new warehouse in Atlanta in May.

The 476,000-square-foot facility will be the distributor’s largest warehouse and serve the Southeast and portions of the Midwest. According to the company, the new distribution center can reduce customer freight costs by up to 6 percent vs. the previous practice of shipping goods from smaller facilities in Dallas and Jacksonville, Fla.

These smaller centers will be merged into the new Atlanta warehouse, which is expected to employ 100 people.

The new distribution center will give D&H “parallel logistical efficiencies” enabling the company to reach most of the U.S. in two days or less, D&H said.

The facility, which can be expanded up to 680,000 square feet, will feature energy efficient lighting with automated sensors, on-site recycling for cardboard and plastic and the ability to halt conveyors and sorters when not in use.

North Syracuse, N.Y. — WYNIT will be the exclusive distributor for Safeguard’s line of sub-sonic air movement detector alarms. The Safeguard Activator line uses infrasonic technology to detect low levels of air movement or vibrations and triggers an alarm. The alarm can be connected to an adapter to control lighting or other appliances. Prices range from $19.95 to $149.

WYNIT will also carry Hitachi’s new WXGA resolution LCD projector, the CP-WX410. It’s the 20th Hitachi product in the distributor’s stable.

ADI Targets Training

Melville, N.Y. — ADI debuted its Lighten Up program of Webinars and branch training sessions to educate dealers on lighting control technologies. The company also launched an IP networking section, which will give dealers access to Ethernet switches, PoE switches, media converters, servers, wired and wireless routers, and test equipment. Dedicated networking space will be rolled out to ADI branches over the coming weeks, the company said.

Finally, ADI said it would be hosting Boot Camp training presentations at EHX Spring 2009 as well as sponsoring CEDIA University’s Learning Lab. The Boot Camp will run for 30 minutes and focus on lighting control solutions, home solutions, HDMI cables, and label- and badge-making products.
