55% Of Broadband Homes Subscribe To OTT Video

Dallas – The percentage of broadband U.S. households subscribing to a subscription OTT (over-the-top) video service has grown to 55 percent from 2013’s 44 percent, Parks Associates found.

The percentage is highest among households with a younger head-of-household, the research and consulting company noted. A total of 72 percent of household heads ages 18-24 and 71 percent ages 25-34 subscribe to an OTT service.

“Consumers in key demographics have adopted OTT services in large numbers, and now both content companies and service providers need to develop the technologies and solutions to deliver high-quality video experiences to these subscribers,” said research analyst Glenn Hower.
