TiVo Unveils Premiere Elite STB For Retail

INDIANAPOLIS —

TiVo introduced at CEDIA Expo,
here, its Premiere Elite cable-based set-top box featuring
four tuners and 2TB of hard-drive capacity
and targeting retail distribution.

The box, which is slated to be sold through custom
installers and at general retail stores by year’s end at
a $499 suggested retail, has a CableCARD slot that
will accept conditional access CableCARDs capable
of decrypting and tuning up to four channels at
once for playback or recording.

TiVo charges a $19.99 per month subscription fee
for the recording/guide service, or a one-time lifetime
fee of $499.

An improved user interface combines digital cable
programming with web-based entertainment
content from a variety of services, including Netflix,
HuluPlus, Amazon on Demand, YouTube, Rhapsody
and others.

It will record FullHD 1080p content and features
enough storage capacity for up to 300 hours of HD
content.

The TiVo Premiere Elite is also THX certified.
