
In preparation for its purchase by Haier Group, GE Appliances is replacing 85 support positions presently provided by corporate parent General Electric.
The roles range from IT and finance to marketing and sales, and all but 10 of the jobs will be based at the company’s Louisville, Ky., headquarters.

“Now we are establishing our own systems, and we will be operating as a standalone and there is nothing to integrate with,” GE spokeswoman Kim Freeman told local TV station WDRB. “All the services we get from GE corporate are what we have to replace.”
Haier expects to close the $5.4 billion deal by midyear and plans to keep GE’s current management team intact in Kentucky under president/CEO Charles “Chip” Blankenship.
