GE Appliances has a full house.

The appliance giant is now represented by IFTTT mobile apps across all of its white-goods categories, including cooking, refrigeration, laundry and dishwashers.

For those unfamiliar, IFTTT — or, “If This Then That” — is an open platform of mobile apps, or “recipes,” that provide on-off or situational commands to compliant, Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

For example, within the GE Appliances cooking section (or “channel”), there is an “if-then” recipe that can turn off a connected oven whenever the user leaves home. In another scenario, for laundry, smart lights in the home could blink when a connected washer is nearing the end of a rinse cycle.

The apps were developed by GE, but the platform also allows users to create their own functionalities. Currently, over 400 connected customers are using the GE recipes, resulting in more than 3,000 mobile commands each week.

GE has been working with IFTTT since last June, and the recent addition of washer, dryer and dishwasher channels made it the first appliance manufacturer to have its entire white-goods suite on the platform, the company said.

“Having the full suite available on IFTTT allows consumers to stay on top of their home appliances in new ways that are created just for them and their lifestyle,” said Brett Luckabaugh, GE’s connected appliances scrum master. “With six GE Appliances channels on IFTTT there are endless possibilities for consumers to create new recipes, giving them more control over their smart home.”
