Hewlett-Packard's president and CEO Carly Fiorina was named chairman today taking over the post from Richard A. Hackborn.
Fiorina joined HP last July and has presided over a major restructuring of the company's operations and she initiated talks concerning HP purchasing the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.
"This appointment is a strong vote of confidence in Carly's leadership and the direction she has set for the company over the past 14 months," Hackborn said. "Under her stewardship, the company is now poised for accelerating growth." Hackborn will remain a member of HP's board or directors.
