CES 2019: Scosche Brings V2V To All With Nexar Dash Cam

Can send accident reports to insurance companies

Scosche is at CES 2019 with a new dash cam that let drivers join the Nexar vehicle-to-vehicle crowdsourcing networking.

Part of the company’s Safetech line, the Full HD Dash Cam – Powered by Nexar can record driving and store important vehicular events to the Nexar Cloud when the device is paired with the Nexar app. In the event of an accident, a detailed insurance report can be generated and submitted directly to participating insurance companies, said Scosche.

Stay up to date with all things CES-related with one-click access to our CES Hub.

When connected to the app, the camera begins recording automatically when driving begins and stops when it ends. It features a capacitive-touch “event” button to mark significant events and footage, and the app also utilizes sensors in the phone and the camera’s 3-axis accelerometer to detect and record accidents.

Using the app also lets drivers join the crowdsourced Vehicle-to-Vehicle crowdsourced Nexar safety network.

The device features a 140-degree wide-angle lens, Sony low-light image sensor and DIY installation.

Shipping is slated for spring. Pricing will be available at the show.
