Starting today, iOS users can access Nuki technology directly from their vehicle, allowing users to check the status of their Smart Lock with a glance at their car’s display instead of reaching for their smartphone. This latest update marks the first time Nuki functionality is available natively within the vehicle interface for iOS users.
“As a pioneer in smart access solutions, it’s important to us not only to stay one step ahead with our own innovations, but also to recognize opportunities for making everyday life easier as soon as they arise,” said Martin Pansy, Co-Founder and CEO. “We knew we wanted to bring these new possibilities to life for our users as quickly as possible. That’s why I’m thrilled that, thanks to our new CarPlay widget, Nuki can already be used directly in the car less than a month after the final release of iOS 26.”
Status Checks and Lock Actions Made Effortless
The new Nuki CarPlay widget brings key smart lock functions directly to the car’s infotainment system, enhancing both convenience and control while on the road. Building on Nuki’s existing interactive widgets for smartphones and smartwatches, this latest integration allows users to access essential features without opening the Nuki app.
The Nuki CarPlay widget supports two primary functions: displaying the current lock status and enabling lock or unlock actions. Drivers can now view at a glance whether their front door is locked or unlocked directly from the vehicle display. If a Nuki Door Sensor is installed, the widget also indicates whether the door is physically open or closed, and the battery status information is also clearly shown. For added functionality, users can assign up to two lock actions to the widget. A single tap on the car’s display is all it takes to execute a command, offering fast, intuitive control without distraction.
Faster, More Convenient, and Safer
With the introduction of direct control and real-time status updates via the vehicle’s infotainment system, Nuki takes another step forward in delivering a seamless and secure smart home experience. This integration not only simplifies access management but also promotes safer driving by reducing the need for smartphone interaction on the road.
“Think of those moments at a red light when you instinctively reach for your phone to check if your door is locked,” said Jürgen Pansy, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Nuki. “Now, a quick glance at the CarPlay display is all it takes. Our keyless access solution is now faster, more convenient, and significantly safer to use – both for drivers on the road and for ensuring a secure home.”
Compatible with More Than 800 Car Models
The new Nuki widget is available to all iOS users who own a Nuki Smart Lock. It comes with the latest Nuki App version 2025.10.1 and requires iOS 26 as well as a CarPlay-compatible vehicle. There are currently over 800 car models that support this feature. You can find a list of compatible brands here.
