Blue Shade: Amazon Makes Nighttime Reading Easier For Fire Tablets

Sweetening the deal for the many consumers who purchased an Amazon tablet over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period, Amazon announced it’s adding new features to the devices.

Beginning today, and continuing over the next few weeks, the Fire HD 10, Fire HD 8 and Fire tablets will receive a free, over-the-air software update with the following new features:

Blue Shade: Adjusts the display on Fire tablets to reduce the amount of blue light and produce more comfortable nighttime reading.

Activity Center: Parents can visit a secure page on their smartphone, tablet or computer to review what websites their children have been viewing and what apps have been used. It will also display the amount of time spent on each activity.

Amazon FreeTime Update: The parental controls will now feature a kid-friendly web browser with more than 40,000 curated, age-appropriate YouTube videos and websites. Websites are selected via Amazon and Common Sense Media. Parents can also add additional websites.
