Swedish audio technology company Dirac is bringing one of its most advanced room correction technologies to a broader audience. The company announced that Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) is now available within Dirac Live Processor, the newly renamed evolution of the Dirac Live Room Correction Suite for Windows and macOS.
“Dirac Live Processor was built to make world-class room correction available to anyone with a PC or Mac and a sound system,” said Fredric Tapper, vice president and head of business development at Dirac. “Adding Active Room Treatment takes that vision even further, giving users access to our most advanced acoustic optimization technology through software alone.”
The update enables users to access Dirac’s flagship room optimization technology without requiring a compatible AV receiver or processor that has the software pre-installed. Instead, Dirac Live Processor functions as a virtual audio processor on PC and Mac, applying room correction to audio before it reaches connected speakers or headphones. The software supports VST, VST3, AAX, and AU plug-in formats, making it compatible with a wide range of digital audio workstations (DAWs) and media players, suitable for both home listening and project studio applications.
With this release, Dirac Live Processor now supports the company’s complete suite of room optimization technologies, including Dirac Live Room Correction, Dirac Live Bass Control, and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment.
Unlike conventional room correction systems that primarily equalize frequency response, Dirac Live ART uses multiple speakers throughout a system to actively manage room resonances. The technology analyzes how sound behaves throughout a listening space and coordinates all available speakers to reduce bass buildup, improve decay times, and create a more consistent listening experience across the room. According to Dirac, the result is tighter bass, improved clarity, and a more focused soundstage without relying solely on physical acoustic treatments.
The software-based implementation also expands accessibility for users with computer-based playback systems who previously couldn’t take advantage of ART because their hardware lacked native support.
Dirac Live Processor is available now for Windows and macOS. Existing users can add Active Room Treatment through a software upgrade, while new customers can purchase licenses directly from Dirac. Pricing varies depending on the selected features and licensing options.
