Theory Audio Design has begun shipping five new amplified loudspeaker controllers, expanding its lineup with a higher-powered model in its DLC Series and introducing a new PLC Series designed for more demanding residential, commercial, and live sound installations.
The new products include the DLC-1500.8d, an eight-channel loudspeaker controller, along with four new PLC Series models featuring four- and eight-channel configurations. The PLC lineup incorporates amplification and digital signal processing technologies from Powersoft, including the company’s Class-D amplification architecture, SmartRail energy management power supplies, Power Factor Correction, and DSP platform.
DLC-1500.8d
The new DLC-1500.8d delivers up to 6,000 watts of total output in a 2U chassis. It provides up to 1,500 watts into 4- or 8-ohm loads from any channel pair, or 800 watts into 2- or 4-ohm loads with all channels driven.
The controller features upgraded high-current Euroblock connectors supporting up to 10-gauge speaker wire, along with four channels of Dante/AES67 audio-over-IP digital I/O. According to Theory, the amplifier can power up to 32 of the company’s 16-ohm loudspeakers in low-impedance mode or more than 300 speakers in high-impedance mode without requiring internal transformers.
Configuration is handled through an onboard web interface accessible via Ethernet or the unit’s built-in Wi-Fi access point. Integrated DSP features include matrix mixing, priority routing and ducking, parametric EQ, delay, gain adjustment, and limiting. The company also offers API support and control modules for AMX, Control4, Crestron, Crestron Home, ELAN, Josh.ai, Q-SYS, RTI, and Symetrix platforms.
PLC Series
The new PLC Series consists of two four-channel and two eight-channel loudspeaker controllers housed in compact 1RU chassis. The amplifiers combine Powersoft amplification technology with integrated DSP and Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity.
According to Theory, the PLC Series is designed to support larger residential, professional, venue, and live sound installations while maintaining a compact footprint. The controllers also include Theory’s proprietary loudspeaker presets for system optimization.
Theory says the PLC Series combines advanced DSP with high-density amplification to provide scalable system design for a range of installed and portable audio applications.
