Apple added to this week’s iPad refreshes with the introduction of updated AirPods.
The true wireless ear buds have received a new, dedicated and Apple-designed H1 chip that provides 50 percent more talk time than its predecessor (3 hours total); faster connect times to Apple devices; and other performance efficiencies, the company said.
The second iteration also allows for hands-free access to Apple’s Siri virtual assistant, and comes with a choice of standard charging case ($159) or new Qi-compatible wireless charging option ($199).
“The world’s best wireless headphones just got even better with the new AirPods,” said Apple’s worldwide marketing VP Phil Schiller, who described the ear buds as “the most beloved products we’ve ever made.”
